Comedy fans delighted late last summer when Jon Stewart announced the creation of a multi-platform animated series coming to HBO in the fall. But nearly six months into 2017, there are still no episodes to be seen. HBO and Jon Stewart released a joint statement officially canceling the project before it began.

“HBO and Jon Stewart have decided not to proceed with a short form digital animated project,” reads the joint statement as reported in the New York Times. “We all thought the project had great potential, but there were technical issues in terms of production and distribution that proved too difficult given the quick turnaround and topical nature of the material. We’re excited to report that we have some future projects together which you will be hearing about in the near future.”

The show was set to feature short, topical videos with Stewart’s trademark sharp and entertaining political analysis. But don’t fret, the former Daily Show host signed a four-year deal with HBO back in April. So, we’re confident we’ll see new projects popping up soon!
