Amy Schumer explains her reason for leaving amazing tips
“I worked in the service industry for 10 years.”
Los Angeles is covered with aspiring comedians, actresses, and musicians biding their time before a big break with a gig waiting tables. Amy Schumer was no different, but now that she’s got the financial goods, she isn’t shy about giving back.
“I’m a good tipper,” she told Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show last week. When Stern pressed her about giving her money away out of “rich guilt,” she told him that her fat stacks don’t make her lose any sleep.
“I take care of my family, my friends. I think I might feel guilty about having money if I wasn’t giving,” she said.
She went on to explain that leaving big tips makes her feel great. “For me, when I was living in a studio in Astoria, if somebody left me $1,000, that would change my month,” she told Stern.
So, there you have it. If Amy ever walks into your restaurant, do whatever you can to get her in your section!
